The Psychology and Counseling Department of Webster University Geneva is very excited to welcome Dr. Fabio Macciardi, visiting professor from the University of California at Irvine. Dr. Macciardi is a certified clinical psychiatrist, epidemiologist and a well-known psychiatric geneticist who has worked extensively on the genetics of complex disorders such as Alzheimer’s, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Autism, Depression, Autoimmune Disorders and ALS.

In this interactive seminar you will learn about the epigenetic mechanisms operating in conditions of trauma and interpersonal violence. Participants will understand how genetic and epigenetic factors can influence the reversibility of the negative effects of trauma and interpersonal violence, as well as how “good” and “bad” environments influence our health or disease status. Presenters will also discuss innovative clinical and therapeutic strategies suggested by their latest research in this field.
